Our Speech Therapists  treat patients with speech and language problems that have neurological causes.Acquired communication and swallowing difficulties can arise from:

  • interfacedVoice disorders
  • Stroke (CVA)
  • Head injury
  • Parkinson’s disease – including Lee Silverman Voice Therapy
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Other neurological disorders
  • Specific speech, language and swallowing difficulties may include:
  • Aphasia (including difficulties with understanding, spoken language, reading or writing)
  • Dysarthria
  • Dyspraxia
  • Dysphonia (voice problems – it is imperative that patients with voice difficulties have been fully assessed by an ENT consultant before starting therapy)
  • Dysphagia (swallowing difficulties)
  • What we can provide:
  • Clinic appointments or home visits
  • Assessment (including report)
  • Individual personalised therapy sessions
  • Therapy programme to be completed between sessions
  • Liaison and close working  with other professionals including G.P.s consultants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists.
